2020 brought with it a fundamental shift in how we do things. In the middle of March, the presidency declared a state of disaster, which led to a national lockdown. And non-essential workers were expected to work from home. While media was declared an essential service, we used that time to allow as many of our people who didn’t have to be at Kaya House to work from home.
When lockdown eased, we had staff rotating and working tighter shifts to decrease the number of people present at Kaya House at any given time. Toward the end of June, Kaya House was closed down due to a COVID-19 case being recorded.
Nowhere were the growing pains and collaboration effort required to carry on with business more visible than on-air. What comes out of your speakers is our core business. Our presenters, technical producers and our technical staff came to the party to ensure that business carried on with as few interruptions as possible.
Who could forget these moments?
