This morning on 959 Breakfast with Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka we are decoding one of the most decorated sports icons in Mzansi, Lucas Radebe.
Speaking about raising his kids Lucas Radebe shares that throughout his career he’s never had a chance to ‘see my kids grow. ‘
“You never get to see their personalities as they grow up,” he says.
Now that he is retired, he cherishes every moment he gets to spend with his children.
“This is the time I get to spend time with the kids. most of the time I was away travelling.”
He continues: “It got to a point where my kids would ask where am I going if they see me putting my jacket on. Even If I was going nowhere.”
The former Leeds captain says this stage of his life has been “a blessing” and that fatherhood has been effortless.
Opening up about his friendship with the legendary Dr Khumalo, he says 16v was one of the guys he looked forward to meeting at Kaizer Chiefs.
“If there’s someone who’s been a trendsetter it’s definitely him I remember when I first came to Kaizer Chiefs, this is one of the guys I was delighted to meet.
“His personality is amazing. I have got the almost respect for him.”
He adds that their relationship has been “absolutely amazing.”
