Devastating floods continue to wreak havoc on farmlands, destroying crops, while driving tens of thousands of people from their homes throughout Nigeria.
Authorities announced Monday that Nigeria is experiencing its worst floods in a decade, with more than 300 fatalities expected in 2022, including at least 20 this week.
They acknowledged that the situation is beyond their control.
According to the National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria, flooding in 27 out of Nigeria’s 36 states and the capital city have affected 500,000 people and forced 100,000 to flee their homes.

Thousands of hectares of crops have also been damaged by the tragedy, escalating worries that the food supply in Africa’s most populous nation would be disrupted.
