Almost 10 years later, Kanye West finally admits that radio journalist, “Sway Calloway had the answer”.
In an exclusive interview with Good Morning America, Kanye West talked about his ongoing battle with apparel brands GAP and Adidas.
“It was all kind of a disregard for the voice of something that I co-created. I co-created the product at Adidas. I co-created the product at Gap”, Kanye said.
Kanye continued: “That means that I was there for some specific agenda, not for Yeezy Gap to be everything that it could be or this dream that I had about what the Gap could be. It’s time for me to make my own thing”.
Reiterating Sway’s 2013 sentiments Kanye now plans to directly sell Yeezy products to the public and apologetically admits that Sway was indeed correct.
“I will go ahead and say, Sway had the answer”.
In a viral interview with SWAY in 2013, Kanye ranted about how despite his impact and significance to the culture, he felt stifled by big corporations.
“I’m standing up and I’m telling you, I am [Andy] Warhol,” Kanye snapped. “I am the No. 1 most impactful artist of our generation. I am [William] Shakespeare in the flesh.”
When Sway told Kanye that he should continue without getting backing from major corporations, Kanye stressed, “How Sway? You ain’t got the answers, man! You ain’t got the answers!”
