Listen to an analysis of the developments in the Joburg Council on Point of View:
Phalatse released a statement last week that alerted the public that her office was aware of the upcoming motion of no confidence.
Her office cited the announcement of lifestyle audits on all Councillors and Senior Managers being the reason behind the move to oust her.
“It must be noted that the intention of our political opponents to table a motion of no confidence in the Executive Mayor at the next Council sitting is but an attempt to gain access to funds meant for the delivery of services.”
“It also comes as a response to the announcement by the MMC for Group Corporate Services, Cllr Leah Knott, that lifestyle audits will be cunducted on all Councillors and Senior Managers.” read the statement.
