Award-winning South African music composer and producer, Lebo M says he doesn’t remember making the controversial Mandela/Meghan comparison at the Lion King London premiere.
This after the Duchess of Sussex came under fire for claiming that a member of the production told her “when you married Harry the people of South Africa rejoiced on the streets like we did when Mandela was released from prison.”
After much speculation social media users ruled out John Kani as the South African who made the statement to Meghan because he claimed he never met nor spoke to the Duchess.
Lebo M on the other hand had a brief encounter with Meghan and Harry and people are convinced that he’s the one who made the Mandela/Meghan comparison.
However, the highly acclaimed Lion King producer said he couldn’t remember the conversation he had with the royals when he met both Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry because it was only a moment.
Speaking to Mail Online, Lebo M confirmed he had met Meghan and Harry but said he could not comment on whether he made the Mandela/Meghan comparison.
“I cannot comment on the matter as it was 3-years ago. I don’t remember the details of that conversation which was less than a minute. As a South African, I’m not sure if this is important to most of us facing serious domestic issues. I’d like to not be dragged into this issue from 3-years ago.”
