Parents of the 21 teenagers who died at the Enyobeni Tavern have been told the cause of death is a result of suffocation due to overcrowding.
This according to a toxicology report, the results of which have been divulged to the parents without making a physical copy of the findings available to the families.
Officials have reportedly been briefing parents and relatives in private and individually, citing that the results are to be kept confidential.
Results of the toxicology report have not been disclosed to the public, despite the Enyobeni Tavern making national headlines.
A media briefing was done in July, where preliminary toxicology results suggested that the teenagers all had traces of methanol in their blood.
Over-consumption of alcohol and a possible stampede were ruled out as the cause of death.
There were also speculations that the 21 teenagers had died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning, which might have been from a generator that was running on 25 June.
The teenagers, youngest aged 13-years were found collapsed all over the tavern on Sunday morning, 26 June.
It has been reported that most of the parents are not convinced their children died from suffocation due to overcrowding.
A few families disclosed to media that they are seeking legal action to secure the final post-mortem results.
