Ghanaian singer Gyakie shares “Something” from her EP, My Diary with DJ Keyez on the Ultimate Kaya 959 Top 30.
The popular Afrobeat songstress was just 8-years old when she started accompanying her equally talented father, Nana Acheampong to his studio.
Jackline Acheampong, known professionally as Gyakie, is just 22-years old and started writing and singing in 2020, during the Covid-19 lockdown.
While her dad influenced her musically, it was the Forever hitmaker’s mother who believed she would one day be a superstar because of her voice.
“Growing up, one thing about my family is that we’re all music lovers. My dad was instrumental in getting everyone into music and one thing that my mom always did was make me perform for her friends when they’d come around.
My mom heard something in my voice and she just knew. She had already seen in me the potential and “gift” as she calls it from a young age, until I recorded my first single Love Is Pretty.”

Her second EP
With her second EP, My Diary, out Gyakie is developing her sound into something glossier and more intricately stitched together than her debut EP, Seed.
The International Business student applied for admission into 3 different institutions and graduated successfully. While she had ambitions of becoming a businesswoman, the music bug bit hard and the self-taught artist started writing from the heart.
She delves into the war within, bringing to life hauntingly beautiful lyrics which touch the soul.
Her songs invoke feelings of longing and fear, and are full of desire and love.
Gyakie is one of the headline performers at the Global Citizen 2022 Festival which is taking place in Accra,
Ghanaian music artist, Gyakie will be performing as one of the headliners of the Global Citizen 2022 Festival in Accra, Ghana on 24 September.
She’s excited to be part of the concert and wants to use her performance to highlight extreme poverty.
Gyakie aims to support young women and children living in poverty, with plans to focus on juvenile correction institutes which hold a significant number of children, some being held for minor offences in abject conditions.
