Congratulations to acclaimed South African actor Warren Masemola who has joined the international cast of Showtime’s King Shaka.
An “excited” Warren made the announcement this morning.
“I’m so excited to be a part of this outstanding international cast of Showtime’s King Shaka by Antoine Fuqua, a dream come true.”
Leading the cast is British actor Charles Babalola
Babalola will play King Shaka in the drama series, centered around King Shaka’s personal journey from “stigmatized childhood to warrior king.”
Production kicks off next month in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and will be exclusively shot in Mzansi
The drama series is set for a 2023 release on Showtime.
Also cast in the series is Queen Nandi, Shaka’s devoted mother, and The Woman King’s Thando Dlomo, Thapelo Mokoena will guest star as Gendeyana, along with Warren Masemola as Magazwa, who provides a safe haven to Shaka and Nandi but at a cost.
Multichoice is also working on a series about King Shaka led by Nomzamo Mbatha.
Mbatha will be starring in and executive producing the new series titled Shaka ILembe.
Set in the 1700s, Shaka Ilembe tells the story of the making of Shaka Zulu, with iterations from his early childhood through to his adulthood. The two key actors playing Shaka are Lemongang Tsipa (adult king) and newcomer Ntando Zondi (boy king).
