One of the most important conversations you can have is the one you have with yourself.
The conversations we have in our heads have the power to unleash unimaginable change in our world.
It is very important to establish a new relationship with yourself first before beginning a new journey, especially one that requires a lot of change.
When you encourage yourself with positive self-talk, you develop an emotional attachment to the new routines and habits you are forming, making it simpler to carry out and maintain over time.
Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke to Nomfundo Mogapi, Clinical psychologist & Founder at the Centre for Mental Wellness and Leadership (CMWL) about the ways to improve your personal dialogue.

Mogapi explained why positive self-talk is so important in everyday life.
“The reason why it is so important is that the latest developments and research on the brain and how it functions is that the same areas of the brain that get activated when you are talking to other people are also activated when you speak to yourself.
The conversation that you have with yourself is as important, if not more than those you have with other people.
“Most of our work as psychologists when you talk to us about your problems is more than just the problem that we try to transform, but more the dialogue you are having with yourself about the problem.”
“It’s the story we tell ourselves when we are going through what we are going through it,” said Mogapi.
