Comedian and reality television star Toll Ass Mo real name, Mongezi Mhlangu, issued a statement revealing that he has been “vindicated and accordingly acquitted of all charges levelled against him by a South African court of law.”
Toll Ass Mo says he has maintained his innocence despite claims of “alleged rape by Ms Lerato Moloi” which he says have “caused immense damage to him, his family, children, and professional reputation” and subsequent loss of livelihood negatively affected his overall mental health and emotional wellbeing.
“After two years, a court of law concluded and eventually confirmed that Ms. Moloi made false claims and her allegations were poorly fabricated” and that she was ‘a dishonest and unreliable witness.”
Mo is currently pursuing charges of slander, defamation of character as well as malicious prosecution, and civil charges to cover “total legal costs incurred and comprehensive loss of income suffered during this time, against MsMoloi.”
Furthermore, he says in addition, “I will also be pursuing the necessary legal action against the parties responsible.”
Mo notes that during the last two-years their family’s silence “was not an admission of guilt” but rather a decision to respect the justice system – and not the court of public opinion – to follow due course, and rule in favour of truth.
“My family and I condemn gender-based violence in the strongest form, and we have the upmost sympathy and empathy with real victims in this regard. “
