Latoya Nontokozo “Toya Delazy” Buthelezi, a musician and Zulu princess, has publicly supported Prince Simakade as the AmaZulu King in opposition to her grandfather.
This came as surprise to many in the country as his grandfather Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, backs King MisuZulu for the throne.
On Sunday, August 14, the Pump it Up singer congratulated Prince Simakade on becoming king on Twitter, to the dismay of numerous users who called her a traitor and attacked her.
Prince Simakade, the eldest son of the late King. Over the week tension rose in the Kingdom as he performed the ‘ukungena esibayeni’ ceremony at the Enyokeni Royal Palace in Nongoma, northern KwaZulu-Natal.

Consequently, some members of the Zulu Royal family have hailed Simakade as the new king of the Zulu nation.

Toya also posted audio of a song which was released in 2021, where he sang the praises of Prince Smakade.

According to Professor Sihawu Ngubane, a cultural expert from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, who spoke to the SABC, the fact that two kings after the Zulu throne are carrying out these ceremonies raises concerns about who is the recognized King.
“Prince Simakade entered the kraal and he was introduced to the ancestors that he is the one who is going to ascend the throne and yet we have another ceremony taking place on Saturday where the King MisuZulu is expected to perform a similar ritual.
“So, the confusion lies who is being accepted as the King of the Zulu nation because in the history of the Zulu nation, we never had two kings and we always have one king and the seat is for one king, it never happened to the AmaZulu nation.” said Ngubane,
