Revered South African actress Connie Ferguson joined 959 Breakfast with Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka this week and during the interview, Connie opened up about her battle with depression and being on anti-depressants for three years.
“There was a time when I was on anti-depressants I think for three years. And then I decided that it wasn’t going to be my life. I did therapy.
The Ferguson Films co-founder saw a psychologist and a trauma counselor.
“I saw a psychologist and that almost did not work for me and then I saw a trauma counsellor. This is interesting to know as well that the way the two work is different because their approach is different. I saw all of them.
Exercising has proved beneficial for Connie Ferguson’s mental health.
“I eventually went off antidepressants but I found that what actually makes me happy and lifts my mood all the time is exercise. That’s how I manage it.”
