South African actor, playwright, and theatre director Mncedisi Shabangu has passed on.
An official statement from the actor’s family confirmed his passing.
Mncedisi passed on in the early hours of Sunday morning, 24 July 2022.
“It is with great sadness that the Shabangu family informs you of the sudden passing of Mncedisi Baldwin Shabangu,” the statement read.
The Shabangu family “appreciates all messages of condolences and requests privacy at this difficult time.”
Memorial service and funeral arrangements will be announced soon.
The cause of Mncedisi’s passing has not yet been revealed.
Mncedisi Shabangu was best known for his role as Khulekani in the e.tv soapie Rhythm City.
Prior to the role on Rhythm City, Mcedisi starred as Skhumbuzo in the second season of the SABC3 drama series The Lab in 2008.
His theatre credits include Orpheus in 1998, Ways of Dying in 1999 and Call us Crazy in 2000, for which he won the FNB Vita Award for Best Actor in a supporting role.
