According to several reports coming out of Johannesburg, stage and screen actress Busi Lurayi has passed on.
Eye Media Artists, a talent management agency that was managing the actress confirmed the news of Busi’s passing to Kaya 959.
In a statement shared by the agency on behalf of Busi’s family, “Busisiwe passed away suddenly and was pronounced dead at her residence on Sunday, 10 July 2022 by medical personnel.”
The cause of her death “is still unknown as they await the results of the autopsy report.”
Her family requests that they “be allowed privacy to come to terms with the tragic news.”

Busi is popular for her role as Tumi Sello in Netflix’s popular series How To Ruin Christmas.
The news of her passing comes a month after it was announced that the series was renewed for a third season.
Lurayi has also starred as Phumzile on the SABC1 sitcom City Ses’la between 2005 and 2006 and again in 2010.
In 2006 the actress won the inaugural SAFTA (South African Film and Television Awards) for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Comedy, for her role as Phumzile.
Tributes have been flooding in on social media for the late actress.
