It’s been almost five months since the passing of South African rapper Riky Rick and the icon’s passing still feels unreal.
Real name Rikhado Makhado, the rapper passed away in Johannesburg aged 34. It is reported that he died by suicide.
In the season finale of his reality television show, Somizi revealed that the news of Riky’s passing “left him without words.”
Shortly after the rapper’s death, Somizi says he “dreamt about Riky asking him to stop tweeting lies about him.”
Like many South Africans, Riky Rick’s passing triggered a lot of emotions in Somizi.
He shares: “I always take it personally when someone says people who commit suicide are being cowards and stuff like that. For me, I have been on the verge of committing suicide – I know maybe 50 percent of what that darkness feels like.
“It triggered me but at the same time, I was like I’ve been talking to this guy at least once a week. Like, could you have given me one more chance to maybe hug you and convince you otherwise?”
Although this season of Living The Dream with Somizi was filled with many revelations about Somgaga’s personal life, at some stages it felt like a Mohale smear campaign.
Fans of Somizi also expressed this on social media as it didn’t offer much about the star’s life but gave the impression that its sole purpose was to make him appear a victim in his divorce battle with his estranged husband.
The channel announced that Mohale will be afforded the same opportunity to tell his version of events in response to the allegations brought up on the show.
This will be in a 4 part sit-down format with Aldrin Sampear set to come out this July.
