Cassper Nyovest has reportedly been ordered to cough up R147 000 in unpaid royalties. This after Oupa Sefoka, aka DJ Sumbody obtained a court order which stipulates Cassper has to pay out the large sum.
The money is for unpaid royalties on their collaborative single Remote Control. Cassper initially slammed the claims that he owes the rapper money.
In 2021, the Siyathandana hitmaker took to Twitter to claim that the lies just don’t stop.
Remote Control was featured in a 2018 Samsung advert which allegedly brought in R5 million.
As reported by the City Press, a court ruled against Cassper who will now need to pay DJ Sumbody an amount of R147 000.
According to the report, the court found in favour of DJ Sumbody, finding the agreement between the two valid and binding.
DJ Sumbody filed the ex-parte application in November 2021, citing the agreement he’d entered into with Nyovest stipulated that royalties on the track be paid to him.
Both parties agreed to propose a payment arrangement within 5-days that the agreement was signed.
If an agreement is not reached, DJ Sumbody may once again approach the courts who will then intervene and ensure that the matter is honoured.
“If no agreement can be reached between the applicant and the respondents, the respondents agree that the applicant is granted leave to approach this honourable court on the same papers and duly supplemented, for the honourable court to determine the exact monetary amount in rand value to be immediately paid to the applicant.”
