Businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize has responded to criticism about the donated houses she handed over to flood victims in KwaZulu-Natal.
The Royal AM mogul donated three houses together with Zikhulise Group, to families in eThekwini who lost everything in the KZN floods.
Handing over the keys to the families on Monday, 20 June, MaMkhize as she is affectionately known, received heavy criticism on social media about the “look” of the houses.
People were slamming the entrepreneur for building houses with only bricks for flood victims, saying the quality of the homes looked cheap.
MaMkhize who is known to dig deep into her wallet when it comes to philanthropy and giving back to the community was disheartened at the response.
Taking to social media on Tuesday, 21 June, the businesswoman shared how disheartened she was after seeing the feedback.
“I wake up today and my team tell me that people are saying I built cheap houses for flood victims. Firstly, the houses were built in 5-days using alternative technology. We needed to get the houses done quickly because people had nothing. Secondly, before you find fault in somebody’s kind deeds, ask yourself what are you doing to make a difference?”

She says negative comments will stop people from coming forward to help others and said she didn’t donate towards the flood victims hoping for an accolade.
