Talk about hypocritical! Zimbabwe banned Somizi from visiting the country but have allowed American actress and comedian Ellen DeGeneres into the country.
Last November, the Zimbabwean government barred Somizi from attending an event due to his sexual orientation.
The Idols SA judge confirmed that he was banned because he’s open about his homosexuality.
“So, yes, this is true. There are people who don’t want me to attend because of my sexual orientation, because I’m a gay man!”

However, US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia De Rossi were welcomed by Zimbabwean authorities with open arms.
Sharing pictures of a safari, Ellen and her wife recently landed in Zimbabwe after visiting Rwanda.
The 64-year old and her 49-year actress wife were married in August 2008, breaking barriers on same-sex marriages.
It is unclear whether the nature of DeGeneres’ visit to Zimbabwe is, but it is rumoured that she’s spending millions on conservation projects.
DeGeneres recently wrapped the final season of The Ellen Show, following numerous staff complaints about a toxic work environment.
