Petrol consumption is a concern for most drivers on the road these days, with the apparently ever-rising prices of fuel to market conditions and international events.
Because the price of fuel is increasing every day, many individuals are seeking ways to reduce their use and costs.
Kaya Biz with Gugulethu Mfuphi spoke to Pogiso Dibakwane on effective ways to cut down on fuel consumption.
LISTEN TO THE FULL CONVERSATION HERE:
Dibakwane said one of the most important first steps if you want to make sure you’re spending less on fuel is to make sure your car is well maintained and taken care of.
“Other than driving slow, there are things you can do to save money on fuel. For starters, you need to make sure your vehicle is well maintained and is operating in good condition.”
“You need to make sure that your service intervals are done in time, the changing of your oil and spark plugs is done in time. Another thing you need to make sure of is your tyres, your tyres need wheel alignment every 5000 km, and your tyre rotation is very important. “
“Your tyres need to be well balanced because they sometimes cause what we call drag. When this happens you are burning a lot of fuel.”
