It has been little over a month since the Kekana family announced the tragic passing of their son and sibling iconic fashion designer, Lebogang “Quiteria” Kekana.
The internationally acclaimed designer lost his battle with Multiple myeloma. Multiple myeloma is cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell.
Just a few weeks later, the Kekana family received some tragic news, this time about the late fashion designer’s ex-fiancé, Phakamani “Mario” Mbele, who allegedly passed on by natural causes.
According to an article by the Sunday World, Phakamani allegedly died by suicide, however, those claims were proven to be false by a close family member who spoke to Drum magazine.
“We thought he committed suicide. He was not sick, he was healthy. But when the postmortem came back it said, he died of natural causes,” his cousin Sharon Thusi tells Drum magazine.
Quiteria’s brother, Vincente Moet Kekana noted that as a family although they’re still trying to make sense of Quiteria’s death, they are staying strong and “holding the fort”.
“We are still trying to come to terms with Quiteria’s death and it has been tough, but we are holding the fort. We are doing what he would have wanted and that is continuing his legacy. Mario played a big role once in Quiteria’s life and we hope he is resting and free from what was troubling him”, Vincente shared.
