Ensuring she remains headline news yet again, Kim Kardashian wowed at this year’s Met Gala where she channelled Marilyn Monroe.
The reality star and SKIMs business-owner wore the designer dress that the iconic 50s and 60s sex symbol made famous.
Monroe wore the Jean Louis masterpiece in 1962, when she sang, “Happy Birthday” to US President John F. Kennedy.
The skintight gown adorned with more than 6,000 hand-sewn crystals was auctioned in 2016.
Ripley’s Believe It Or Not bought the dress for nearly $5 million, which originally cost $12 000 to create.
Marilyn Monroe had to be sewn into the dress on the night and was the last person to wear the dress.
To complete her Marilyn Monroe transformation, Kim dyed her hair platinum blonde and went on a dramatic diet to drop 7kgs in 3-weeks.
When Kim received the dress, she realised it wasn’t going to fit her curves, she kept everything under wraps and went on an extreme weight loss program.
Because the dress was so delicate, Kim needed to wear gloves to handle the dress. Once she climbed the stairs of the Met Gala, she changed into a replica of the dress.
Kim was accompanied by her boyfriend, Pete Davidson.
