South African media personality Somizi Mhlongo‘s daughter, Bahumi Mhlongo has joined the cast of Umbuso on Sunday, the 3rd of April 2022.
Bahumi plays the character of Refilwe Matlala, who is described as the strong-willed daughter who wants to do anything and everything to prove herself.
A tale about two comrades, Ma E Sibiya who is a street-smart businessman, and Tiny Ndebele who is the people’s politician. Umbuso tells a story about how these comrades are navigating and securing post-struggle legacies for themselves and their families.
The recent Film graduate will join the likes of Lillian Dube, Christopher Jafta, Bheki Sibiya, Sandile Mahlangu, Zinzi Zungu, Mzwandile, Omuhle Gela and Makhaola Ndebele.
No stranger to the arts, Bahumi officially made her debut when she was cast as the ‘young’ Lebo Mathosa for the Lebo Mathosa biopic.
Excited about this new role, Bahumi took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes video with some of her fellow cast members on set and during takes.
“Cats out the bag! So excited to share the news of this project I’ve been blessed to be a part of. Can’t wait for you to meet ‘Refilwe’. Here’s a glimpse of the moments on set & as a cast, we’re excited for what’s in store for you”, Bahumi shared on Instagram.
