EFF MP Nazier Paulsen has come under fire after he was caught on camera smoking during a parliamentary sitting.
On Wednesday, Paulsen joined other members of parliament for a virtual sitting of the cabinet’s economics cluster question-and-answer session.
During the sitting, he is seen repeatedly smoking.
Social media users have been debating online about what they think he was smoking.
Other members of parliament immediately alerted the Deputy speaker and asked if it was parliamentary to smoke during a sitting.
DA’s MP Joe McGluwa said “Honourable deputy speaker I wanted to find out if it’s parliamentary to smoke zol on a virtual platform? The honourable Nazier is smoking zol on the platform,” McGluwa said.
