It’s the third payday of the year, debit orders just went out and there’s the Easter long weekend comping up.
Nothing beats a planned getaway with friends on a long weekend. However, making those getaways work with friends is always a challenge because one thing friends are good at is dropping you at the last minute.
If you’ve been on more than one successful group trip how did you and your friends do it? What are the measures you put in to make sure that everyone saves money just in time for the trip?
Skhumba says his trips with his friends never work out.
“My boys are not organised. We start a WhatsApp group, take out money and the next thing Brian doesn’t have money and Paseka is telling us about how his wife won’t allow him to go. In the end, it never works out, that’s why I prefer to go alone.”
A listener shares: “My girls, my family, friend, etc. You get with your respective people and there are those who are not going to pay and then are those that are always going to cause problems. So you need to choose the right people, coordinate one person responsible for the collection. The main thing is to book accommodation and then you get the logistics sorted and thereafter you delegate.”
Here are some of the reactions on social media:
#ThomasAndSkhumba we went to Badplaas as colleagues, we started saving from January and each person contributed R200 per month. We booked payed for accommodation, transport then what was left was buy for food and drinks
