Legendary South African Kwaito artist Zola 7 joins Bonolo BeeSting on The Hive.
In the tell-all interview, Zola 7 discusses new collaborations, pleads with the government to invest in the youth, and shares advice to young artists on how they can survive in today’s climate.
“I want Gauteng TV to migrate into other provinces. You don’t have to leave home. That is the migration route of our grandfathers when they were going to the mines.
“The government needs to realise that we need studios in other provinces with proper equipment so that those kids can stay there, sleep next to their mothers, wake up and go shoot in their provinces.
“They don’t have to migrate to Joburg, it is crowded. Let the people stay home because they can get the stories immediately then the stories can be consolidated and then be played on tv,” explains Zola.
“If the government decides to allocate a R100 million to the Eastern Cape for television that means there’s a R100 million in the Eastern Cape. Why is there always money in Joburg? It’s unfair, it must be distributed equally,” he said in part.
