By now it should come as no surprise that the sex scenes on SA’s newest hit telenovela The Wife are explicit! However, last week’s scene caught everyone off guard.
We knew that nothing was off-limits on the show but nothing could’ve prepared us for Khanyi Mbau and Mondli’s sex scene. It’s the first of its kind on South African television.
The actors recently hosted a Twitter space with entertainment commentator Phil Mphela where they answered some of the viewers’ burning questions.
Explaining how they managed to pull off the scene, Khanyi credits the camera work.
“I wore the thinnest T-strap underwear you can ever imagine. Camera work allows the illusion for you to think there’s nothing there when there is actually everything there. For example; in the scene where he went down on me there was literally a big camera in the sheets with us,” she says.
“Even in the scene where you see Nkosana under the sheets talking to me, you thought I was there. I wasn’t there, I was not even in the room when they shot him lying in bed as if they (Zandile and Nkosana) were both there.”
Mondli refrained from giving much but attributed it to great acting.
