Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung’s divorce takes an ugly turn, with the estranged couple at loggerheads over their settlement agreement.
The pair who confirmed they were proceeding with divorce are set to face off at the Johannesburg High Court, after Somizi rejected mediation discussions.
This after the media personality grew frustrated with his soon-to-be ex-husband’s conduct.
Mohale had apparently requested Somizi “not to air their dirty laundry out in public”, which resulted in a breakdown in settlement discussions.
The Citizen reports that Somizi is also not impressed by Mohale’s demands and there is major disagreement in the division of their joint estate.
Since news of their divorce broke last year, Mohale claimed he did not want anything in their split other than the clothes on his back and a car he claims Somizi damaged.
Allegations of abuse in their marriage were leaked when Mohale shared in an interview that he was physically and emotionally abused by Somizi.
Mohale was in turn labelled a gold-digger who stood to gain a fortune in the divorce.
The couple were married traditionally, which is a community of property union, which means Mohale is entitled to 50% of Somizi’s assets.
According to reports, Somizi is not opposed to this but there are further demands that Mohale has made which the Idols SA judge will be contesting.
The couple’s divorce takes an ugly turn as Somizi will reportedly also be revealing in court that Mohale abused him during their marriage.
A date for the couple’s divorce proceedings have not been shared.
Somizi enjoyed a break at the Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve, where he had a close encounter with a lion and elephants.
