Daniil Medvedev is the new world number one on the ATP rankings.
He takes over from Novak Djokovic, who had been at the summit of the standings for 361 weeks.
It’s a huge honor to take over this spot. I’m sure everyone can understand it comes with mixed emotions that it happens this week. Thank you to my wife, team, sponsors, friends, & everyone that has helped along the way. It’s a long journey and I look forward to the years ahead pic.twitter.com/YYGCHE4SBK

However, with his country Russia being in the news for all the wrong reasons after invading Ukraine, Medvedev’s celebrations have been dampened.
Medvedev is the first man since 2004, outside the game’s Big Four of Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray to occupy the top spot.
