Sipho Nkosi has been hired to cut small business red tape and will head up a new task team.
The president made the announcement in his SONA 2022 speech on Thursday night.
Nkosi is the former CEO of Exxaro and president of the Chamber of Mines of SA, and is also Sasol chairperson.
In an effort to grow and develop small businesses to boost economic growth and employment opportunities, Nkosi will assist in streamlining bureaucratic delays for businesses.
Sipho Nkosi will have to ensure that businesses are paid within the 30 days that government departments are obligated to.
Ramaphosa said it would be difficult for the private sector to successfully expand and offer job opportunities if there is continuous red tape.
Highlighting that public sector procedures made it difficult for the private sector to prosper.
Nkosi previously sat on the Board at Sanlam and was appointed Lead Independent Director in 2016.
He is known for his entrepreneurial spirit and has a passion for driving business development in South Africa.
Nkosi and his task team will commence with reviewing the Business Act as well as the regulatory framework which push businesses to endless hoops.
