He chats to Tbose on My Top 10 at 10 about his passion, upbringing, losing loved ones, and more.
He hails from the East Rand
Sipho Alphi Mkhwanazi was born and bred in Daveyton in the East Rand. He attended high school in Benoni.
Sipho Alphi Mkhwanazi knew he wanted to talk
From a young age, he knew that he wanted to talk. He studied Pr and communications, brand management, and strategic communications. His mantra is to always put smiles on people’s faces.
“I come from an animated family”
“I come from an animated family, if you come to my home I’m the most serious personality. We are also a small family and everyone is a comedian in their own way,” he tells Tbose.
“My family does not care about my popularity, my mom still asks me to do the dishes.”
On losing loved ones
Alphi lost his sister in April last year. He was also deeply affected by the passing of our very own Dr Sindi. “Then I lost Dr Sindi days after, I remember having to go to her funeral and I was overwhelmed,” he shares in part.
The past, present, and the future
Alphi started emceeing when he was 17-years-old. “It started at a wedding when the emcee had dropped the couple last minute and they asked me to take over.” Since then he’s been emceeing. He is working on television production and will be trying out stand-up comedy.
