An attempted cash-in-transit (CIT) heist on Friday claimed the life of one person. The incident occurred near Carnival City on the East Rand.
According to police the perpetrators did not make off with any money.
The motorist died after CIT vehicle rolled onto a private vehicle, claiming the life of a 44-year old man.
He was travelling with his wife and children who were injured.
Both the driver and guards of the CIT vehicle were also injured and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Police are said to be investigating an attempted cash heist and culpable homicide.
The suspects were in 3 vehicles, an Audi, VW Golf and Mercedes Benz. One of the vehicles, the Mercedes was abandoned at the scene. The car was used to ram into the CIT vehicle from behind.

Police confirmed the car had been stolen in December 2021.
