A proposal to name the Cape Town International Airport after the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu has been made.
Cape Town Archbishop Thabo Makgoba who led the 30-minute service for the late Desmond Tutu proposed that the international airport should be named after the late Desmond Tutu.
Makgoba made the suggestion on Sunday, saying, in order to honour the memory of the man, and called on the nation to use Tutu’s legacy to turn a new page.
“Let us live as simply as he lived, exemplified by his pine coffin with rope handles. Let those of us who have resources pull in our belts that others can eat enough to fill their stomachs.
“Let us reorder our society to end inequality and create equal opportunities for all.
“Why don’t we rename Cape Town International Airport the Desmond Mpilo Tutu International Airport?” he asked.
Social media users have weighed in on the new proposal.
So now they want to rename Cape Town International Airport after Desmond Tutu. What ever happened to the Winnie Mandela idea?

The @MyPAConline want Robert Sobukwe to be recognized as the most feared "political prisoner" in apartheid.
LET'S TEST OUR WOKENESS!
What a nonsense we hearing Cape Town Airport to be named after Desmond Tutu??? 🤔, The same airport @Our_DA refused to be named after @winniemandela passing. Utter rubbish @CyrilRamaphosa praising so called Arch Bishop a Sellout. Marikana and Phoenix Massacre not been visited.

I asked Tutu in 2010 about having an airport named after him. He said: "Then we really would be scraping rock bottom!… It is Mandela this, Mandela that and the Albertina Sisulu new fast road… I just feel grateful that my local airport is still called Cape Town international!" https://t.co/aYSmYRvev5
