Trevor Noah is suing a New York surgeon and hospital for leaving him with “permanent, severe, and grievous” injuries following an alleged botched surgery.
The South African comedian is suing orthopedic surgeon Dr. Riley J. Williams and the Hospital for Special Surgery for malpractice.
Trevor recently filed a lawsuit listing his grievances. According to People magazine, Trevor was a patient from August to December 2020.
He underwent surgery in November. The 37-year-old did not disclose what surgery he underwent, but Dr. Williams specialises in knee, elbow, and shoulder injuries at the hospital.
Trevor’s lawsuit states that Dr. Williams and the hospital were “careless in failing to treat and care for [him] in a careful and skillful manner”.
The suit accuses the defendants of failing to “use proper tests and examinations in order to diagnose the conditions” as well as “failing to use approved methods in general use in the care and treatment”.
Trevor allegedly suffered “personal injury” after the surgery.
According to People, his lawsuit claims that he also “sustained severe nervous shock, mental anguish, severe emotional distress and great physical pain”.
He was allegedly “confined to bed and home for a long period of time”.
The hospital, meanwhile, has described Trevor’s claims as “meritless”.
