Miss South Africa 2020 Shudufhadzo Musida has unveiled her ‘Designer of the World’ gown at the Miss World pageant.
She wore the gown during the Miss World Top Model fast track competition.
Contestants showed off designs from their home country during the pre-ceremony competition.
Shudufhadzo’s dress was designed by Warrick Gautier. She says the gown was inspired by the ‘Buhle’ crown she wore during her reign.
“When we started discussing ideas around what I wanted my Designer of the World gown to be, I knew that I wanted to incorporate one specific thing…’Buhle’. The Miss South Africa crown that I wore with so much pride and with an immense sense of responsibility,” she wrote on Instagram.
Shudufhadzo says she wore the crown knowing what it represented, not only to herself but also for “so many young girls who see the crown for what it truly means. Passion, purpose, responsibility and service”.
The 25-year-old says she wants her ‘Designer of the World’ gown to inspire people.
“I want this dress to represent our dreams and that they have so much value, no matter where you come from. @warrickgautier made this vision come to life in the most beautiful way by hand beading this gown with the design found in the crown,” she wrote.
