Gauteng is inching closer to vaccinating six million people.
The Gauteng Department of Health says the latest data shows a total of 5 046 757 COVID-19 vaccinations have been administered in the province.
Department spokesperson Kwara Kekana says all persons 18 years and older are encouraged to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab.
“It is thought that by getting 70% or more of the adult population to be vaccinated that we can minimise the impact of the fourth wave,” Kekana says. The Department of Health says 19 242 116 vaccines have been administered across the country to date.
The Gauteng Department of Health continues to urge people to get vaccinated.
“For your convenience, you can also vaccinate at any of the private sites listed on our Facebook page. Vaccination will help us return to the things we love such as attending sporting, cultural, religious, and entertainment events of our choice safely,” the department says.
