Award-winning vocalist and songwriter Mbuso Khoza says there’s a lot of work to be done in decolonising music, especially in townships.
Khoza who hails from eShowe in Kwa-Zulu Natal and his music is celebrated the world over says while he loves Hip Hop which not different from praise singing, he doesn’t like the style of delivery. He asks, “Why be inspired by Beverly Hills and NOT mountains around us here in Africa?”

Mbuso who currently lives in Durban spoke to David O’Sullivan about Magogo, the mother of Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi and his journey in music.
