Town, is a dim sum restaurant and bar owned by Gary Cotterell, Zanele Kumalo and Zodwa Kumalo-Valentine, chef Canaan ‘Sbu’ Msongelwa and Marcus Botha. It’s the place for you if you answer with enthusiastic yes to the following: You enjoy an adventurous vibe and you don’t mind a spot where everyone is trying to get their best Instagram moment. Situated in the trendy Work Shop New Town space, Town offers a menu of fresh fusion flavours and dumpling with great fillings.
Go if: you are looking for a reason to hang out in the city, and you want to eat well and listen to good music. They also serve great coffee.

Over the last few years South African cities have seen an increase in the number of markets popping up. For some time now, they have been the place to go for gourmet food, coffee and craft beer. But if you’re not one to frequent places just for their trendiness, the charm of these markets would likely wear off quickly.
Enter the Stables Village Market. Located in Chartwell, it aims to give an authentic market experience where artisanal, gourmet and farm produce are the main event. Other than vendor stalls, there’s a deli and two restaurants, live music on certain days and pony rides for kids. Launching 5 November, mark it on your calendar and visit the market.

A Laugh out loud experience at The Goliath Comedy Club and Roast Café

Founded by comedy mainstays Donovan Goliath, Jason Goliath and Nicholas Goliath (no relation), as well as Kate Goliath (their manager), The Goliath Comedy Club and Roast Café has created a platform for South Africa’s favourite pastime: laughing. The line-up includes many young comedians, South Africa’s brightest comedic stars.
Go if: you want to spend the evening relaxing and laughing.
