A doctor in Mpumalanga has raised eyebrows of many people on social media after she made a decision to no longer see patients who have not been vaccinated against Covid 19.
This found its way to me via WhatsApp. I support what Dr Machiri is doing. pic.twitter.com/p3dOCxubRA

She was recently interview on Cape Talk where she her reason for not seeing unvaccinated patients was compassion fatigue:
It’s compassion fatigue. I will be honest with you; every time I get called up [at] 01:00, 02:00 to see a patient, they are very ill and I need to make a decision whether to send them to high care or incubate them immediately. Most of the time I take a step back immediately after asking that question, and apologise to the patient. Because it is really a moral judgement on someone who is desperately sick. And I am not someone who is morally qualified to ask that kind of question to someone who is desperately sick and needs my help.”
Mzansi has reacted strongly to the doctor’s stance on social media, with one user citing: “He has broken his oath.”
I am strongly advocating for vaccines but I think it is wrong to refuse to see patients because of the choices they’ve made. Talking to patients makes you realize that they have real concerns. The same applies to many aspects of medicine.

I support Dr Machiri. As much as Doctors /health care provider have a choice of weather they can perform termination of pregnancy due to religious beliefs, I think it’s only fair that they do the same for unvaccinated patients. https://t.co/3uqNfB8dsr

If you live in Mpumalanga more specifically Mbombela then remember this name DR. TM MACHIRI. When he eventually changes his tune he should 100% be part of the BOYCOTT club in SA.
